<description><![CDATA[New Report from Center on Education Policy found that a majority of
districts surveyed – 71 percent – reported having reduced instructional
time in at least one other subject to make more time for reading and

<title><![CDATA[ECS Debuts Artscan Policy Database, New Media Analysis ]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[<span class="newscolumnleft">As part of Arkansas Governor Mike
Huckabee's Chairman's Initiative, "The Arts – A Lifetime of Learning,"
the Education Commission of the States (ECS) has developed an
interactive database for policies related to arts in education for all
50 states and the District of Columbia called <a href="http://ecs.org/ecsmain.asp?page=/html/educationIssues/ArtsinEducation/ArtscanDB_intro.asp" target="_blank">Artscan</a>. The key findings of the Artscan data may be found <a href="http://www.ecs.org/clearinghouse/63/92/6392.htm">here</a>.
ECS also released an analysis of how and to what extent the national
